Alpine Manuka trees produce a honey that combines a smooth taste with unique antibacterial properties.  

Raw honey is honey as it exists in the beehive.  This has been filtered but not pasteurised, so the beneficial compounds, yeasts and pollens remain active in the honey.  Enjoy.

Description

Manuka and Kanuka trees naturally grow together and each year there will be a variation in the level of each variety of nectar.  Laboratory testing classifys this as a Manuka blend but we think that underplays the great properties of Kanuka honey.  This is an award winning honey taking out a first place at the Auckland Beekeepers Club Honey show in 2020.

Benefits of Kanuka Honey

Manuka honey's antimicrobial benefits are well known but Kanuka honey is a wonderful anti-ageing ingredient.   This is because it contains very special compounds called arabinogalactans (AGP’s); and Kanuka has the highest AGP content of any New Zealand honey (including Manuka honey).  AGP is important because it has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, and persistent inflammation from conditions such as acne, eczema and rosacea is exceedingly detrimental to radiant skin. This honey has been gathered from alpine flowers which means hives above 600m elevation in Golden Bay NZ and distant from horticulture.  This creates a honey with a unique taste and flavour that is smooth and sweet on the palate.

The three honeys are a 500g Manuka Honey with MGO of 83+ (equivalent to UMF 5+);  A 500g Manuka/Kanuka multiflora Manuka Honey and a 500g Alpine blended honey.
